Toby Neilan creates his work through a process of photography and digital manipulation, introducing hand drawn elements, geometric forms and a strong sense of colour, combined with expressive mark making. Recent developments have seen him drawing with a dot to produce paired-down visuals with a free painterly result. In a collaboration with make up artist Sharon Dowsett, which lasted 10 years, Toby had the opportunity to record and respond to the backstage production of major fashion shows in London, Paris and Milan. Other clients have included, Issey Miyake, where he produced a window installation at Issey’s London Flagship store (illustrating both the interior and that seasons APOC collection), the Kylie X World Tour, in collaboration with design and lighting specialists UVA, and, again working closely with UVA, visuals for Jay-Z Blueprint World Tour. Other international clients have included Y-3, Nike, American Express and IBM. Toby has also been visiting tutor at Epsom University of the Creative Arts and London College of Fashion, University of the Arts London.
