Mascha Keersmaekers

Mascha Keersmaekers is a Dutch artist, art teacher and illustrator. She is a creator of many things – big and small.

'I always like to show that art is an integral part of life for everyone, not just for the museum-goers amongst us. Like singing in the shower, you can create purely for your own enjoyment. Or, similar to what music can do, art can give you comfort in difficult times. Or, like singing a protest song, you can create critical pieces to shake up the world. My practice shows a bit of each. Something to put a smile on your face, something to comfort you and something to make you think. Which one is which is up to you. After all, art is in the eye of the beholder.'
