Artist

Graham Wood is one of the founders of the acclaimed, multi award-winning agency Tomato, and was ECD at JWT NYC, and latterly ECD at The Gild, among other roles and projects.

He has done lots of different things – artist, designer and director, and dreaming and thinking and making those things has led down many divergent paths; from print & TV, to online, events, performance, generative and reactive installation, experiential, product design, film and motion graphics, writing . . . whatever is necessary to get things made. At heart, Graham likes conceptual thinking and play, and working within constraints, whilst trying never to be defined by media platforms but always more concerned with building an emotional narrative and visual world. Looking for things that have depth, breadth and meaning. Hopefully.

From Michael Jordan’s retirement to the Playstation launch, Kobe’s first shoes and the Beatles return, creating a universe for Stephen Hawking, designing the livery for a Whitbread yacht race winner, writing the novel Tycho's Nova, global product launches for Unilever and Sony, live visual performances with Underworld at Glastonbury, V Festival, Fujirock . . . from Obamas election to Malcolm Mclaren's last project, interactive installations and global communications, design, typography, motion and digital for clients as diverse as Ford, Nike and& Smirnoff.

He published books, written articles, run creativity workshops (New York, Berlin, Tokyo, London and other places), and given talks. Recent projects include a set of brand tarot cards, exhibitions in London and Tokyo, a film for IBM, a generative online and experiential sound/motion project, thinking about VR, writing and developing a TV series, and a new book to be published in the future. Graham also won awards worldwide (D&AD, Webby, AICP/MOMA, BBC Design Awards, Tokyo TDC) and exhibited in the V&A, MOMA, BFI, Barbican, MOCA, PARCO, Moderna Museet.
