All Stereohype button badges available at stereohype.com are classic high quality one inch (25mm) metal back badges with so-called D-pin (although it looks more like an 'e'). Tiny stickers at the back mention the artist, release date, series number, etc. The growing collection of these mobile mini canvases – featuring over 1,400 individual designs by over 500 international graphic designers, illustrators, photographers and artists – consists of all B.I.O. (By Invitation Only) contributions, winners of Stereohype's annual button badge design competition and additional series such as the special collaborations: AFOMFS SeriesMICA Series, 10x10 Series and Emoji Series. Badges are manufactured in the United Kingdom.

Design

‘This happy and obviously heavy pencil is for use on those occasions when you want to put a date in the diary for a catch up with a friend.’ — Rob Flowers

Artist

Rob Flowers spends most of his time either illustrating stuff influenced by some of his favourite things or searching for junk to add to his growing collection of assorted miscellany. Said favourites include medieval bestiaries, Halloween ephemera, folklore and mythology, Sid and Marty Kroftt, clowns, sideshow and circuses and 80s gross-out toys. Ideally he’d like to live in a land of hamburger patches, milkshake volcanoes and fillet-o-fish lakes. Described as “a distinctive originator on the illustration scene” his work has been described as “bright, playful… a little eccentric” and that “you can spot it a mile away”.

Series

These custom emoji artworks originally featured in the FL@33-designed book The Story of Emoji by Gavin Lucas (Prestel Publishing, March 2016). If you could create a new emoji, what would it be? Gavin Lucas asked a number of image-makers from around the world to design new emoji characters they wish really existed. Book contributions were submitted just before iOS 9 was released (which also included the 'Metal Fingers' / 'Devil's Horns' emoji addition). One day soon – hopefully – all these bespoke emoji suggestions will be included... This one inch (25mm) button badge series is a collaboration between Stereohype, Gavin Lucas and the selected emoji contributors Ali Graham, Crispin Finn, David Henckel, FL@33, Friso Blankevoort, Hey Studio, Jan Kallwejt, Julian Morey, Liza Nelson, Lucy Vigrass, Matt Chase, Matthew Bromley, Mr Bingo, Nick Shea, Noma Bar, Peskimo, Richard Hogg, Rob Flowers, Serge SeidlitzTane Williams and TwoPoints. Stereohype sells Emoji Series badges separately and gives them away as a free surprise badge with selected Stereohype T-shirts. Released: April 2016 as part of the book launch exhibition.
