Good news (under the circumstances)! SHIPPING TO USA RESUMED An update just in from the French La Poste regarding the USA tariffs which resulted in an EU wide suspension of shipping. We will now be able to set up an extra USA shipping cost checkout option and make Stereohype goodies also available again for North America without having to pay super-expensive couriers anymore. It’ll be more reasonable going forward while the USA import tariffs are in place.
Here is what they wrote: Madam, Sir, We are pleased to inform you that, since October 30, shipments of goods to the United States are again possible, exclusively via Colissimo online on the laposte.fr website.
As a reminder: Recently, all shipments of goods to the United States are taxable from the first dollar. Customs duties and taxes are now the responsibility of the sender and must be paid before the package leaves France. When you purchase online, these fees will be automatically calculated and added to the postage cost. So no surprises when orders arrive at their destination – it's all been taken care of as part of the purchase.

RIP Andy Altmann 1962–2025
Very sad news last night via @andy_altmann_studio: Andy Altmann has died. I was lucky enough to finally meet Andy in 2023 for a long chat – one of my design heroes from my time studying design in the ’90s. I had some of my cherished and influential design books, from Typography Now to tat*, signed by him, gave him some badges and prints he had designed for us, shared lunch, and had a long conversation about life, health, priorities, work, and how very much he loved his family.
A giant in design and a true Mensch – generous, kind, optimistic, and incredibly strong. My sincere condolences to his family and friends. Shine on! RIP ♥

Banking Crisis, Brexit, Covid, wars and now this: Temporary suspension of shipments to the United States
This just in from from our local EU postal service that we use to ship most orders around the world with.
Dear Customer (speaking to the Stereohype Lyon warehouse),
As a customer who has made international shipments in 2024 or 2025, we would like to inform you about upcoming changes in American trade policy. The American authorities have recently passed a decree that fundamentally changes the customs procedures for goods shipped to the United States.
What is changing?
From 29 August 2025, all shipments will be taxed from the first dollar (with the exception of gifts worth less than USD 100), whereas previously there was a duty-free limit of USD 800.
Customs duties must be paid directly to the US Customs and Border Protection agency before the goods are imported into the United States.
Temporary suspension of shipments
As postal operators have not been given any time to adapt their IT systems to the new requirements, La Poste is temporarily suspending shipments to the United States and associated territories (Puerto Rico, Guam, Virgin Islands, Mariana Islands, American Samoa and Minor Islands) from 25 August 2025.
What is still possible
The following shipments are not affected by this measure and will continue to be permitted:
✔ Letters containing only documents
✔ Letters and parcels containing gifts with a total value of less than
100 USD, sent by private individuals
✔ The entire Chronopost range
Important
Apart from these three exceptions, all postal items to the United States posted on or after Thursday, 28 August 2025 will be held and returned to the sender.
Instead of using the more reasonably priced national postal service, we can look into using couriers for shipments to the USA whenever the order quantity or order value justifies the extra cost. Please get in touch if you would like to investigate options with us.

Yay! I finally managed to catch up with the one and only Geneviève Gauckler here in Lyon – a long-time FL@33 and Stereohype collaborator. And whoop! She signed my personal copy of the Stereohype anniversary poster that hangs in my kids’ room. It’s safely back in the frame. The kids and I are over the moon. 8) Get your Geneviève Gauckler badges and prints over at stereohype.com.

We wish you a healthy, creative, and happy New Year!
After a turbulent couple of years, including our 20th anniversary last October, we have now decided that we will remain open for at least another twelve months, until the end of 2025 – for now. This marks the longest break from our hiatus. Let's do this!
Thank you for your continued support.
