designed by Allistair Burt @ Hole in my Pocket
Taking inspiration from the classic WWII posters instructing the populace to “Keep calm and carry on” in the face of possible Nazi invasion, these new badges imagine the motivational propaganda today's government might issue to get us through the credit crunch.
Sprouting the seemingly illogical message that we can “spend” our way out of debt, the design has been updated for the naughties – the crown is replaced with the bowler hat, a symbol of the banking elite who have run the country into the ground and the colours chosen are Dollar Green, Sterling red and Yen blue.
Allistair Burt is a multi-disciplinary artist, with a background in architecture. His work encompasses a wide range of artistic forms such as film, site specific art, painting, illustration and sculpture.
Over the last few years Allistair has directed a series of short films for Channel 4, designed a storytelling machine for a Shetland Gallery and has exhibited work throughout the UK. One of these shows documented his highly amusing trip around Scotland with an old air hostess trolley.
In recent times he has made a short film about Eilidh’s Daily Ukulele Ceilidh, had part of his “Small World Experiment” included in FL@33’s book Postcard and created the design competition Common of Houses trying to solve the MP’s two home problem through creative means.
